The Road to €1M3 min read

Starting the Journal: My Road to €1M

I want yimemo.org to be an ongoing investment journal as I work toward €1,000,000. I will write about what I hold, why I change an allocation, and how I assess the outcome afterward. The goal gives me a direction. What I want to preserve is the reasoning behind each decision and what it teaches me.

Start with a clear record

€1,000,000 is my long-term goal. By keeping a consistent record, I hope to see which decisions had a sound basis, which were driven by emotion, and whether my approach is improving.

The first snapshot was compiled from six account screenshots on September 12, 2026. The dates when those screenshots were taken have not yet been confirmed. DEGIRO, IBKR, OKX, Binance and Coinbase are listed separately, each with its own stated scope. Together, these views do not yet provide a complete portfolio across all accounts.

Track allocations and document each trade

Position records will show the percentage allocated to each asset and cash, with the scope and date stated alongside them. A historical snapshot records the allocation at that time; it does not automatically become today's holdings.

In the first snapshot, DEGIRO weights are normalized to the visible stock holdings. IBKR shows NVTS and cash separately. The OKX overview and derivatives page have been confirmed as the same account, so derivatives are not added to total assets a second time. BTC on Binance is a valuation unit, and the Coinbase watchlist is not treated as holdings. Future purchases, additions, reductions and sales will be recorded with their dates, allocation changes, returns and reasoning once trade details are available.

Be precise about returns

I will distinguish unrealized returns on open positions from realized returns on the portions sold, displaying both as percentages. Each record will state its basis, measurement period and whether fees are included. Where information is incomplete, the figure will remain pending verification.

Portfolio returns need a separate calculation. Individual trade returns cannot simply be added together, and additional deposits are not investment profit. A review should look beyond the outcome to whether the original reasoning held up, whether the position size was appropriate, and what I can improve next time.

Share the process, keep amounts private

The public site shows percentages and written reviews. It does not display account balances, invested amounts, holding quantities, unit costs or account screenshots containing that information. Personal amounts have also been removed from earlier articles, while public market prices and index levels remain as historical context.

Because the target amount is public, I also keep the precise percentage of progress private: publishing it would allow the asset value to be calculated. Readers can follow the journey through dated records, allocation changes and review articles.
